Community resources will be home to information about services, programs, organizations, and events that meet the basic needs of people living on the Northern Neck. This new page complements the Free and affordable food and meals page.
The new page launched August 19 featuring the Oak Grove Community Closet free Winter Coat & Clothing Giveaway Saturday, October 17 in Colonial Beach and 211 Virginia, the free and confidential service available 24/7, 365 days a year which connects people with resources.
How you can help
- If your organization is having an event or regularly provides services and supports to the community, email Susie Cambria the info and she will add it to the page. Please provide info in text format, not just an image.
- Share information about these two pages―community resources and free and affordable food and meals―with those who could benefit from the information AND with those who work for (volunteer with) a service providing organization.
- Finally, encourage organizations of all kinds―business, nonprofit, government―to add their program/service details to 211 Virginia. 211 should be the one place that has all the information. It is supported and used by the state and integrated throughout state, county, and local governments in a variety of ways. All to say that 211 is doing the heavy lifting of maintenance, making referrals, and conducting outreach and engagement.
