For those new to the Northern Neck, the idea of hurricanes may be new, scary, insignificant, or perplexing. NOAA’s Know Your Risk: Water & Wind is a must-read, explaining hurricane-related terms such as storm surge. The resource points to additional sites, like Coastal Flood Exposure Mapper, the Virginia Know Your Zone evacuation map, and National Hurricane Center Storm Surge Risk Maps.
