Lancaster County

  • The Lancaster County Board of Supervisors is holding a work session Thursday, July 12 at 7:00 pm. The purpose is to discuss possible financing options for proposed capital improvement project requests for FY 2019 and beyond. The meeting will be held in the Board Meeting Room at the Lancaster County Administration Building (8311 Mary Ball Rd, Lancaster).
  • The Town of Kilmarnock Planning Commission meets Monday, July 9 at 7:00 pm at Town Hall.
  • The Town of Kilmarnock Town Council meets Monday, July 16 at 7:00 pm at Town Hall.

    Lancaster County Work Zone
    Route 695 (Chesapeake Drive /Windmill Point Drive)
    Monday – Tuesday    , 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating lane closures and flagging operations for paving work. Expect brief delays near the mobile work zone.

    Lancaster County and Middlesex County Work Zone
    Route 3 at the Robert O. Norris Bridge
    Monday – Friday    , 24 hours a day. Route 3 reduced to a single lane on the Norris Bridge. Drivers can expect one-day, alternating traffic 24 hours a day. Crews are milling and paving the bridge's travel surface with a new layer of water-resistant asphalt. Follow traffic control direction from
    automated flagging devices and crews at the scene.

Northumberland County

  • The Northumberland County Wetlands Board meets Tuesday, July 10 at 7:00 pm at the old courthouse in Heathsville. The agenda:
    1. Request by Danny L. Cridlin (V.M.R.C. #18-0917) to remove an existing deteriorated groin and install a 71 foot groin in the same footprint from the shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay and 1 Beach Road.
    2. Request by Thomas E. Preble (V.M.R.C. #18-0911) to construct 72 linear feet, including return wall, of bulkhead along the shoreline of Hull Creek and 1258 Hull Harbor Road.
  • Northumberland County Public Schools text books are under consideration and public input is welcome:
    ATTN: Middle and High School History/Social Science textbooks being considered for adoption are available for review at the Northumberland School Board office from July 1- Aug 9, 2018. Members of the community are welcome and encouraged to participate in this review. Please contact Amy S. Lamb, Director of Instruction, if you have any questions.
  • Northumberland County Public Schools has several new job openings (Elementary/Middle School Counselor; Assistant Principal, High School; Elementary Mathematics Specialist or Mathematics Coach or Mathematics Interventionist; Social Worker).

Richmond County

  • The Richmond County Planning Commission meets Monday, July 9 at 7:00 pm at the county building. The meeting is open to the public.
  • The Richmond County Board of Supervisors meets Thursday, July 12 at 9:00 am at the county building. The meeting is open to the public.
  • The Richmond County Community Policy Management Team meets Monday, July 23 at 1:00 pm at the Richmond County Department of Social Services (5579 Richmond Rd, Warsaw). The public is invited to attend.

  • VDOT HOT SPOTS IN THE FREDERICKSBURG DISTRICT, July 8 – 14, 2018 (PDF):
    Essex County/Richmond County Work Zone
    Route 360 at Downing Bridge Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Route 360 reduced to single lane overnight on Downing Bridge for routine bridge maintenance, including guardrail installation and travel surface repairs.

Westmoreland County

  • The Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors meets Monday, July 9 at 6:00 pm at the George D. English, Sr. Memorial Building (111 Polk St, Montross).   • The Westmoreland County Electoral Board meets Thursday, July 12 at 9:00 am at the Voter Registration Office (105 Court Sq, Montross).
