September 25–27: Fall Free Fishing Days (NEW!)

Fall Free Fishing Days are September 25–27!

This fall free fishing event is new. DWR wrote on FB,

For three days, no fishing licenses of any kind will be required for recreational rod and reel fishing in both fresh and saltwater. Facilities use permits will also not be required, making it even easier to grab your gear, bring along family or friends, and spend a fall day on the water. Whether you’re a longtime angler or have someone in your life who has never cast a line, this is a great weekend to get outside together.

And there’s even more water to explore. DWR is again lifting the restriction on fishing designated stocked trout waters, opening access to more than 2,900 miles of trout streams, along with numerous ponds, small lakes, and reservoirs. All fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits, and gear restrictions, will remain in effect. DWR fee fishing areas will still require a fee during Free Fishing Days weekend.
