Virginia State Parks use volunteer hosts to complement the paid staff and make visiting the park more welcoming. Who knew? Apparently, it’s a thing!
They write,
If you like people and enjoy sharing the love of camping, Virginia State Parks has great opportunities to get involved through its volunteer hosting program. Hosts assist our ranger staff in delivering excellent customer service to campers and visitors.
