How to Stop Jumping In And Start Actually Leading
“My biggest challenge is pulling team members out of the weeds. When they become so focused on non material details, I don’t trust their ability to prioritize and get things done, so I jump in.” — Melissa S.
Read this piece. Uncomfortable. Helpful.
Grabbing website pics
Extract pics is a free online tool to grab pictures from websites, important when right clicking and saving image as doesn’t work.
Newsletter by women for women
The Assist is a new-to-me “free newsletter read by 301K+ women professionals, written by women execs.” OG Tuesday is my fave.
Outreach
Was recently reminded of the various electronic (now referred to as digital) community bulletin boards available to share and learn about events on the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. There’s WKWI (101.7 FM), WIGO (104.9 FM), and Middle Neck News, River Country News, RealRadio804.com, and Windy 103.9.
Events I learned about included the Westmoreland Branch of the NAACP regular meetings, the Cople District Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary BINGO fundraiser, and Fun Day @ Jerusalem Baptist Church Annex. I saw none of these on Facebook. That could be because of the algorithm or it could be that the events weren’t shared on FB.
I often see flyers for events I’ve not seen on social media; that’s a win for me and the organization. If you need to start posting in physical locations or rejuvenate your IRL info sharing, (Crowdsourced) Outreach on the NNK is a great place to start. The physical tab lists post office locations, stores, libraries, banks, and more that allow flyering. If you are aware of other sites, please add the info to that tab. (For the record, media sites like those discussed above are also in Crowdsourced.)
