Richmond County: Inform the search for the new school superintendent (deadline is June 5)

The Richmond County School Board has launched their search for superintendent and is asking the public for input. The deadline for responding to Richmond County Public Schools Superintendent Search Survey is June 5 at Noon.

Survey questions are:

  1. Which of the following categories best represents you as a respondent?
  2. Education and Training- Check qualifications that you think are necessary for a superintendent (options for each are Required, Preferred, Not Important)
  3. Leadership/Management Skills- Rank your top three priorities for a superintendent
  4. Personal Characteristics- Rank your three most desired traits for a new superintendent.
  5. Board-Superintendent Relations- Rank your top three priorities.
  6. Staff Relations- Rank your top three priorities.
  7. Community Relations- Rank your top three priorities.
  8. School Finance- Rank your top three priorities.
  9. Areas of Expertise- Rank the top three areas of expertise that you prefer in a new superintendent.
  10. What is the one talent or skill that the new superintendent should have to do this job well?
  11. In your opinion, what should be a key priority for the new superintendent moving forward?

Read more about the search in the press release. And speaking of the press release, the one linked in the May 29 FB post has been trashed. The one linked here is a copy of the original.

Before we go, consider this: On the issue of what the community has to say about superintendent candidate skills, expertise, and experience, how interested can the school board be if the community has only a week to comment? Especially if the release was dumped on a Friday night?
