A total win for people in Virginia: Virginia Poverty Law Center (VPLC) has launched VirginiaLawHelp.org, a website “providing free legal information and self-help resources for Virginians facing common civil legal issues.”
The announcement explains the new site is “designed to improve access to justice in Virginia.” The information is easy-to-understand and in plain language, not unintelligible legalese. Information is focused on the four topics most frequently affecting low-income residents: Housing, family law (such as child custody and child support), debt and consumer protection, and public benefits (such as SNAP and TANF).
The new site also features Do-It-Yourself (DIY) tools and an on-site bookmarking capability.
