New small business idea: Upcycle brewed grains for bread

Looking to start a small business? What about taking a page out of Brewer’s Foods’ book and upcycle used grains from breweries on the Northern Neck.

And instead of being a total copycat, use the grains in bread. A number of restaurants in Northumberland County have indicated an interest in buying locally made bread and desserts.

And lest you think differently, local crafted beer is a thing on the NNK. Check out the Northern Neck Beer Trail Facebook group for more info.

Oooh, and here’s an idea: Said new business owner could partner with Reedville Fisherman’s Museum to fundraise for and be a founding business of a commercial kitchen as part of the Festival Halle reno! But wait, there’s more: RCC’s culinary program, the Northumberland County Economic Development Commission, and the Northern Neck Planning District Commission each have an important role to play. Not to mention Northumberland County Public Schools, the tavern (to expand it’s role in teaching bread making), and others (think food pantries).
