Note from author: The Native Governance Center's terminology style guide instructs us to “capitalize the names of racial, ethnic, cultural (and for Native folks, political) identifiers.” The more familiar Chicago Manual of Style Online states “We would capitalize Indigenous in both contexts: that of Indigenous people and groups, on the one hand, and Indigenous culture and society, on the other.”
