Quilting history: Virginia Quilt Museum readies for Stitching Together History exhibit, solicits entries from public

The Virginia Quilt Musem is soliciting entries for Stitching Together History.

This project aims to create an exhibition featuring 250 quilts that tell the history of the Commonwealth of Virginia. These quilts will be 20" square and will be juried into the exhibition from a call for entries. The quilts must depict a person, place, event, area, idea, or thing from Virginia history.

The submission deadline for the 20" square quilts is September 30, 2024.

The museum has assembled a list of historical prompts, Stitching Together History: Ideas For Quilts.

We’ve created a NNK-specific list of inspirations: Inspiring quilters with NNK history ~ re: Stitching Together History, Virginia Quilt Museum. Feel free to take inspo from the list or add events, people, and places to the list. The NNK list is not affiliated with the Virginia Quilt Museum in any way.

The Virginia Quilt Museum is holding Office Hours for Stitching Together History Saturday, July 27 for an hour starting at 3:00 pm. Registration is required.
