Comments due Dec. 19 on Virginia’s Draft Chesapeake Bay 2024-2025 Milestones

The Department of Environmental Quality is accepting comments on Virginia’s Draft Chesapeake Bay 2024-2025 Milestones. Comments are due December 19.

According to the public notice,

Virginia is committed to setting and working towards two-year Milestones to improve water quality in accordance with the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). These milestones are part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) accountability framework designed to ensure that the nitrogen, phosphorous, and sediment allocations of the TMDL will be met.

DEQ states that the draft milestones “will be submitted to EPA no later than January 16, 2024 and will be available on DEQ’s Chesapeake Bay Nutrient and Sediment Reduction Milestones webpage.”
