#NNK meetings, policy news, Part 1 (August 6, 2018)

Lancaster County

  • The Lancaster County Board of Supervisors is having a special meeting with the School Board and architect VMDO on the proposed school capital improvement project Tuesday, August 7 at 5:30 pm at the County Administration Building (8311 Mary Ball Rd, Lancaster, in the Board Meeting Room).
  • The Kilmarnock Planning Commission is holding a public hearing Monday, August 13 at 7:00 pm at Kilmarnock Town Hall (1 N. Main St, Kilmarnock) to solicit public comment of a conditional use permit application submitted by Donald L. Lee, C/O Kilmarnock Brewhaus. The applicant requests approval for allowing food vendors to park in public right-of-way along the street directly in front of his property at 44 West Church St, Tax Map 23A-22F-C, after 5:00 pm on Thursday to Friday and after 1:00 pm on Saturday to Sunday. Information can be found at the Town Hall Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and on the town website www.kilmarnockva.com.   • Lancaster County Public Schools registration for SY 2018-2019 takes place Tuesday, August 14 from 7:00 am - Noon and Wednesday, August 15 from Noon - 7:00 pm at the three schools: Lancaster Primary School (36 Primary School Cir, Lancaster), Lancaster Middle School (191 School St, Kilmarnock), and Lancaster High School (8815 Mary Ball Rd, Lancaster). Registration fees are due at the time children are registered.
  • The Town of Irvington Planning Commission meets Tuesday, August 7 from 6:30–7:30 pm at the Irvington Town Office (235 Steamboat Rd, Irvington).
  • The Town of Irvington Town Council meets Thursday, August 9 from 6:30–7:30 pm at the Irvington Town Office (235 Steamboat Rd, Irvington).

Northumberland County

  • The Northumberland County is looking to hire a part-time Executive Director of the Northumberland County Economic Development Commission. The position is open until filled.
  • The Northumberland County School Board meets Monday, August 13 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Northumberland High School.
  • The Northumberland County Public Schools has a number of job openings.

  • School meals will cost more during SY 2018-2019 thanks to a decision by the Northumberland County School Board in June 2018. Paid breakfasts increase from $1.40 to $1.50, paid lunches at Northumberland Elementary School increase from $2.50 to $2.60, and paid lunches at the middle and high schools increase from $2.60 to $2.70.
