Emergency preparedness items included in August 3-5 sales tax holiday

Who knew that preparedness stuff was included in Virginia's sales tax holiday August 3-5? Thankfully, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, and a Lancaster County Emergency Services staffer who tipped me off (thank you, LCES!). The staffer tells me that many hurricane and emergency preparedness products—such as batteries, lanterns, flashlights, tarps, mobile phone chargers, and certain Energy Star or WaterSense items—are eligible for Virginia's tax-free weekend.

Eligible items are listed in the VDEM sales tax holiday checklist (PDF).
