Lancaster County

  • The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is reminding the public that littering is illegal. Per the announcement,
    1) Littering is illegal in lancaster county, and

    2) any vehicle transporting litter on any public highway must have its load covered to prevent its contents from blowing, dropping or falling from such vehicle

    Any person convicted of either of the above shall be punished by a fine up to $500 and/or by imprisonment up to 30 days
  • The Lancaster County School Board meets Tuesday, April 10 at 5:30 pm for a regular meeting; the meeting will be held at the LCPS Annex Building. The agenda includes public comments, various reports, a review of the financials, the first reading of changes to the student code of conduct manual (PDF), review and approval of the SY 2018-2019 calendar (PDF), a review of monthly school calendars, and a closed session on a personnel matter.

Northumberland County

  • The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors is holding a public hearing on the county schools budget (PDF) Thursday, April 12 at 7:00 pm at the Northumberland County Courts Building (220 Judicial Pl, Heathsville). "This request, as submitted, reflects an increase of $121,132 in additional county funds when compared to last year's budget." The public is encouraged to comment on and question the budget. The full budget is available in the county administrator's office (Old County Courthouse, 72 Monument Pl, Heathsville).
  • NAPS Spring Highway Cleanup, Monday, April 9, 10:00 am to Noon. Volunteers will meet at the Wicomico Parish Church parking lot (5191 Jessie Ball DuPont Memorial Hwy, Wicomico Church) and clean up Route 200 from Wicomico Church to the Great Wicomico River (Tipers Bridge). Registration required.

Richmond County

  • Richmond County is holding a public hearing on the proposed FY 2019 operating and capital budgets Thursday, April 19 at 7:00 pm.
  • Read the Richmond County Public Schools proposed SY 2018-2019 budget (PDF) and compare it to prior years.
  • The Warsaw Town Council meets Thursday, April 12 at 7:00 pm at the Warsaw Town Office (78 Belle Ville Ln, Warsaw, in the Council Chambers).
  • The Richmond County Public Library Board of Trustees meets Tuesday, April 10 from 4:00-5:00 pm at the library (Rappahannock Community College, 52 Campus Dr, Warsaw).




Westmoreland County

  • The Westmoreland County Wetlands Board meets Monday, April 16 at 1:30 pm at the George D. English, Sr. Memorial Building (111 Polk St, Montross).
  • The Westmoreland County Board of Zoning and Appeals meets Monday, April 23 at 9:00 am at the George D. English, Sr. Memorial Building (111 Polk St, Montross).
  • The Westmoreland County Planning Commission is holding a work session Monday, April 23 at 3:00 pm at the George D. English, Sr. Memorial Building (111 Polk St, Montross).
  • Adults can get their blood pressure and blood sugar tested by a nurse at CRRL's Montross branch (56 Polk St, Montross) Monday, April 23 from 5:30-7:30 pm.

  • The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive Tuesday, April 3 from Noon to 6:00 pm at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Heathsville. Donors of all blood types are needed.
  • Northern Neck Audubon Society meets Monday, April 2 at 3:00 pm at the Lancaster County Library (16 Town Centre Dr, Kilmarnock).
  • MPNN CSB Prevention, Health & Wellness is offering two Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings (same content, different locations). The trainings are designed for parents, family members, caregivers, and other caring adults and is designed to help adults learn to help adolescents ages 12-18 who are experiencing mental health or addiction challenges or are in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD), and eating disorders. The training is open to the public, materials will be provided, and lunch is on your own. Registrations will be accepted on a first come first served basis. The cost is $30.00.
