Lancaster County

  • The Lancaster County Board of Supervisors is holding a work session on the FY 2019 budget Thursday, April 19 at 5:30 pm at the Lancaster County Administration Building (8311 Mary Ball Rd, Lancaster, in the Board Meeting Room).
  • Lancaster Community Library has a new website. Check it out!
  • The Lancaster County School Board is holding a special work session Tuesday, April 17 at 4:30 pm at the LCPS Annex.


Northumberland County

  • The Northumberland County Board of Zoning Appeals meets Tuesday, May 1 at 7:00 pm at the old Courthouse (72 Monument Pl, Heathsville, Board of Supervisors room). There is one item on the May 1 agenda (Word):
    1. Request by Eugene Carwile and Samantha Futrell for a variance to the Northumberland County Zoning Ordinance, Article V, Section 148-49; to allow construction of a garage less than the required 60 feet from the center line of the street right-of-way. The property is located on Tax Map Parcel # 18-A(1)-1 at 1178 Candy Point Road.
  • Northumberland County Public Schools has finalized their SY 2018-2019 calendar (PDF).
  • Read the April 13 Northumberland Elementary School letter updating parents on the water situation (PDF).
  • The Northumberland County School Board meets Monday, May 14 from 6:00-9:00 pm in the NHS Auditorium.


Richmond County

  • The Richmond County Board of Supervisors meets Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 pm.

    Route 3 at Route 608 (Farnham Creek Road)
    Monday˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. –6 p.m.
    Temporary traffic signals have been activated in the work zone of an ongoing emergency pipe improvement project on Route 3 over Laton’s Swamp. Route 3 has been reduced to a single lane just west of the intersection with Route 608 (Farnham Creek Road). The temporary traffic signals control one-way, alternating traffic in the work zone until the project is complete. Project completion is May 29, 2018.

    Route 360 at Downing Bridge
    (New) Tuesday˗˗ Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
    Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Route 360 at the Downing Bridge to allow crews to take measurements for future work. Before the work zone begins, automated flagging stations will be placed near the center of the bridge and will control one-way traffic across the Rappahannock River, one direction at a time. Expect delays at both bridge approaches.

    Richmond County Surface Treatment
    (Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 5 p.m.
    Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various, low-volume secondary routes throughout Richmond County including the following routes: 614, 618, 626, 642, 658, 660, 678 and 679 for surface treatment. Expect brief delays.
