Lancaster County

  • The Lancaster County Board of Supervisors is holding a special meeting/work session Wednesday, December 6 at 5:00 pm at the Lancaster County Administration Building (8311 Mary Ball Rd, Lancaster, in the Board Meeting Room). The supervisors will review and consider bids for the proposed Emergency Medical Services/Emergency Operations Center Facility with the project architect, GuernseyTingle. Bids were due and publicly opened on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
  • The Lancaster County Wetlands Board is holding a public hearing Thursday, December 14 at 9:30 am at the Lancaster County Administration Building (8311 Mary Ball Rd, Lancaster, in the Board Meeting Room). The agenda is:
    1. David Walsh, 4485 Windmill Point Road, White Stone, VA 22578; requests permission to construct 225’ and 115’ linear feet of vinyl bulkhead, construct two 70’ linear foot sheet vinyl jetties, one 45’ linear foot sheet vinyl groin, re-work and topdress 50’ linear feet of existing riprap revetment, construct a 25’ linear foot spur, construct riprap breakwaters 70’ linear feet, 30’, 70’, 30’ and 120’ linear feet each, remove 150’ linear feet of riprap revetment and create 390’ linear feet of living shoreline with associated nourishment and vegetation along the shoreline of Little Bay. Located off VSH 695 (Windmill Point Road). Tax Map # 36-16. VMRC# 17-1205.
    2. Mr. and Mrs. Philip R. Roper, III c/o Jeff Watkins, P.O. Box 515, Gloucester, VA 23061; requests permission to construct a 300’ linear foot riprap revetment, one 115’ linear foot breakwater and one 95’ breakwater spur along the shoreline of Carter Creek. Located off VSH 637 (James Wharf Road) on Crab Point Road. Tax Map # 33-470. VMRC# 17-1940.
  • The Irvington Town Council will hold a regular meeting and public hearing Thursday, December 14 at 6:30 pm at Irvington Baptist Church (53 King Carter Dr, Irvington). "The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the recommendation of the Irvington Planning Commission regarding the Town’s proposed Planned Unit Development (PUD) Ordinance."
  • The White Stone Business Association meets Thursday, December 7 at 5:30 pm at the White Stone Town Hall (433 Rappahannock Dr, White Stone).

Northumberland County

  • The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors is holding a public hearing (PDF) Thursday, December 14 at 7:00 pm to "consider changes to the sanitary district user fee rate schedule for Reedville (which includes Reedville, Blackberry, and Twin Harbors), Fleeton, and Callao." The public is invited to testify:

  • The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors is holding a public hearing (PDF) Thursday, December 14 at 7:00 pm to consider amending the Northumberland County Code titled Volunteer Rescue Squad and
    Volunteer Fire Department Exemption. "The amendment would designate the Northumberland County Board of Supervisors the approving authority for the number of calls on which volunteer Rescue and Fire need to respond in order to be eligible for motor vehicle exemption from personal property tax." The public is invited to testify:

  • The Northumberland Public Library will be closed Monday and Tuesday, December 25 and 26 and Monday, January 1.
  • The Northumberland Public Library announced in their Winter 2017 newsletter (PDF) that the library, with help from the Northumberland County Public Schools Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), will set up a parent resource center at the library.

Richmond County

  • Richmond County offices close December 22 at Noon for the holiday. Offices are also closed December 25 and 26.
  • The Richmond County Board of Supervisors meets Thursday, December 14 at 9:00 am.
  • Richmond County Public Library will close Wednesday, December 20 at Noon and re-open Wednesday, January 3.

Westmoreland County

  • Standing meetings of Colonial Beach government are listed on the town's website.
  • The Montross Town Council meets Tuesday, December 19 from 7:30-8:30 pm at the Town Hall (15869 Kings Hwy, Montross).
  • The Colonial Beach Planning Commission is scheduled to meet Thursday, December 28 at 5:30 pm at the Town Center (315 Douglas Ave, Colonial Beach).
  • The Central Rappahannock Regional Library will be closed December 24-26 and December 31 - January 1.
