#NNK meetings, policy news (October 9, 2017)

Lancaster County

  • The Lancaster Community Library is closed Monday, October 9.
  • The Irvington Town Council is meeting Thursday, October 12 at 6:30 pm at the town office.
  • The Lancaster County School Board will hold a special meeting Tuesday, October 17 at 6:30 pm.
  • There will be various activities performed on the Norris Bridge from October 9 to 20. There will be daytime and overnight delays as a result. Learn more in the release NORRIS BRIDGE INSPECTION, STEEL REPAIRS SCHEDULED OCT. 9-20.

  • The Northern Neck Food Bank — serving Essex, Lancaster, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland counties and Colonial Beach — lists area food pantries on their website.
  • Clean and Abundant Water Matters’ Forum takes place Tuesday, October 24 at 10:00 am at Christchurch School in Middlesex County. Sponsored by the Garden Clubs of The Northern Neck and The Middle Peninsula, the forum will feature Lewis Lawrence, Executive Director of the Middle Peninsula Planning Commission. Lawrence will discuss the state's water priorities:
    1. ensure that adequate and safe drinking water is available to all citizens of the Commonwealth
    2. encourage, promote, and protect all other beneficial uses of the Commonwealth’s water resources
    3. encourage, promote, and develop incentives for alternative water sources
