Celebrate National Wildlife Refuge week October 2-6.
Head to Richmond County to the Wilna, Laurel Grove, and Welford Tracts; all are part of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's National Wildlife Refuge System's Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge. There you will see migrating song birds which use Rappahannock River Valley NWR as a rest stop, fall blooming flowers, butterflies, and bees and other pollinators. The refuge also features a nearly 200-year-old plantation home, fishing, hiking and walking trails, wildlife photography blinds, and viewing platforms at various locations.
Visit sunrise to sunset.
