Lancaster County

  • The Village Improvement Association in Irvington will hold a regular meeting Tuesday, September 19 from 5:00-6:00 pm at The Tides Inn (480 King Carter Drive, Irvington). More information is available by calling the association (804-577-7501) or the town office (804-438-6230).

Northumberland County

  • The NAPS Creek Clean-up Sunday, October 1, Noon - 3:00 pm, along the Little Wicomico River, needs volunteers. In addition to the clean-up, Lynton Land will lead a tour of the oyster aquaculture operation on the site. More information and to register: lsl@vabayblues.org. Sponsors are Omega Protein, Cockrell's Marine Railway, and the Northumberland Association for Progressive Stewardship (NAPS).

Richmond County

  • The Northern Neck Soil and Water Conservation District/Richmond County Waterway Clean-up will take place Sunday, October 22. Location and time TBA. Event details will be posted on the NNSWCD website.
  • The Richmond County School Board will meet Wednesday, October 11 at 5:00 pm at the Mackey-Thompson Learning Center (13027 Historyland Hwy, Warsaw). This is a new location for the meeting.
  • The Richmond County Board of Social Services regular board meeting takes place Tuesday, September 19 at 5:00 pm at Richmond County Department of Social Services (5579 Richmond Rd, Warsaw, meeting room). The agenda includes time for residents to address the Board of Social Services, various updates, new business, and a closed session. The next regular meeting will take place Tuesday, November 28 at 5:00 pm.
  • The Richmond County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet Tuesday, September 26 at 7:00 pm at the County Administrative Building (101 Court Circle, Warsaw, in the Public Meeting Room).
  • The Richmond County Wetlands Board is holding a public hearing Thursday, September 28 at 7:00 pm in the County Office Building (101 Court Circle, Warsaw, in the Board Meeting Room). The board will consider the following application for a Richmond County Wetlands Permit:
    Charles M. Metzgar, 5964 Old Greenway Drive, Glen Allen, VA 23059, has applied for permission to construct a rip-rap revetment along the Rappahannock River shoreline, located at 139 & 123 Front Street and further identified as Parcels 48 & 49 of Tax Map 42. (VMRC#17-1462)

Westmoreland County

  • The Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors and Westmoreland County School Board are holding a joint meeting Tuesday, September 19 at 6:00 pm at the George D. English, Sr. Memorial Building (111 Polk St, Montross). According to the agenda (PDF), "The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss plans for the design and construction of the new high school."
  • The Colonial Beach Town Council will meet Wednesday, September 20 at 6:00 pm at the Town Center (22 Washington Ave, Colonial Beach, in the Meeting Hall).
  • Colonial Beach Public Schools has published their list of high school fees for the 2017-18 school year (PDF). Items include lock rental, meal cost (free!), parking permits, and AP courses.
  • The Colonial Beach Town Council Saturday, 8:00 am work sessions for the remainder of 2017, per RESOLUTION # 47-17, Establishment of dates and times for Town Council Work Sessions through December 2017 (PDF), are October 14, November 4, and December 9.
