Lancaster County

  • The Lancaster County Wetlands Board will meet Thursday, September 21 at 9:30 am in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room in the Lancaster County Administration Building (8311 Mary Ball Rd, Lancaster). There are four items on the agenda:
    1. Charles & Louise Williamson c/o Bayshore Design, LLC., P.O. Box 339, Kinsale, VA 22488; requests permission to construct 81’ linear feet of riprap revetment along the shoreline of Currell Cove off Eastern Branch of Carter Creek. Located off VSH 638 (Blueberry Point Road) on Currell Cove Lane. Tax Map #34-30C. VMRC# 17-1347.
    2. Thomas A. Sullivan c/o Glenn Lester Co., Inc., P.O. Box 42, Wicomico Church, VA 22579; requests permission to construct a 94’ and a 154’ linear foot riprap revetment and 60’ linear feet of marsh toe stabilization along the shoreline of Windmill Point Creek. Located off VSH 695 (Windmill Point Road) on Brightwaters Drive. Tax Map # 40-14H. VMRC# 17-1417.
    3. Doris H. Mayo c/o Bayshore Design, LLC., P.O. Box 339, Kinsale, VA 22488; requests permission to construct a 54’ linear foot bulkhead in place of an existing 27’ timber bulkhead along the shoreline of The Rappahannock River. Located off VSH 622 (Morattico Road). Tax Map # 11-14. VMRC# 17-1418.
    4. David W. George c/o Robert Lewis, P.O. Box 898, Tappahannock, VA 22560; requests permission to construct a concrete boat ramp, 60’ X 6’ pier, 30’ X 6’ pier, four finger piers and dredge a 60’ by 30’ area and transport spoils to an upland site along the shoreline of Antipoison Creek. Located off VSH 695 (Windmill Point Road) on Antirap Drive. Tax Map # 35-256. VMRC# 17-1465.
  • The Lancaster County School Board Tuesday, September 12 regular meeting agenda includes a public comment period, superintendent's report (LCPS Discipline Data (PDF), Superintendent's report (PDF), File #IGBI-R Advanced Placement Classes and Special Programs (PDF)), reports from school principals (LMS Presentation (PDF)), committee reports, special trips and prizes to recognize LMS students who achieve specific reading milestones, consideration of the proposed civility policy (PDF), and consideration of Policy #IKFD Alternative Paths to Attaining Standard Units of Credit (PDF). Also scheduled is a closed session for personnel and student matter discussions.
  • The Irvington Town Council cancelled the public meeting scheduled for September 5. The purpose of the meeting was to review and recommend the PUD. The Town Council will reschedule the meeting.
  • The Irvington Town Council will meet Thursday, September 14 from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Town Office (235 Steamboat Rd, Irvington).

Northumberland County

  • Some items on the Northumberland County School Board's Monday, September 11 agenda are a closed meeting to discuss personnel, student, and legal matters at 5:00 pm followed by the regular, open meeting at 6:00 pm featuring presentations on special education and from principals on the start of school; various financial reviews; public comments; superintendent's report; and numerous action items.   • The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors will meet Thursday, September 14 at 5:00 pm in the Northumberland County Courts Building (39 Judicial Pl, Heathsville). Public hearings takes place at 7:00 pm.

Richmond County

  • The Richmond County Board of Supervisors will meet Thursday, September 14 at 9:00 am at the county building (101 Court Circle, Warsaw). The agenda includes regular staff reports (from Sheriff, etc.), old business (Department of Emergency Services Auxiliary Volunteer Program, rescue squad purchase, fiscal stress indicator, Route 3 speed limit change), new business (including Atlantic Broadband merger, Northern Neck Adult Drug Court program, and animal shelter property), ongoing projects, public comment, a closed session, and a public hearing. The public hearings are on the proposed sale of four acres in the Richmond County Commerce Park to the Northern Neck Food Bank and the proposed one year lease with Walnut Street Daycare. Westmoreland County

  • The Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors will hold a regular meeting Monday, September 11 at 6:00 pm at the George D. English, Sr. Memorial Building (111 Polk St, Montross). The agenda includes financial reviews and approvals, supervisors' reports, a discussion about Atlantic Broadband, consideration of Stratford Hall Fire Substation parcel sale, report from the county administrator, and public comments.   • The Westmoreland County School Board is holding a work session Tuesday, September 12 at 5:00 pm at Westmoreland County Public Schools (141 Opal Ln, Montross). On the agenda are public comments and a Grimm and Parker facilities discussion. (Read the full agenda)

  • The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality is convening a working group of Westmoreland and Northumberland counties residents to help develop a long-term plan to clean up the Yeocomico River Watershed. The meeting will take place Tuesday, September 12 at 2:30 pm at the Kinsale Volunteer Fire Department (123 Yeocomico Lane, Kinsale). More information (PDF).
  • From River Country News, 84 Main to Host Film on Opioid Epidemic:
    On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, 84 Main Peer Support and Recovery Center is hosting a film screening, The Anonymous People, from 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at the RCC Warsaw Campus lecture hall. There will be a panel of local people in the community and in the surrounding counties sharing information about the opioid epidemic, addiction and recovery. Resources will be available at the film screening along with a question and answer session with the panel.
