- August is a busy free webinar month if Wild Apricot's blog post 42 Free Nonprofit Webinars for August 2017 is any indication. Of particular interest: Developing a Strategic Plan for Volunteer Engagement (August 3); Playing by the Rules: Creating an Effective Volunteer Handbook (August 9); Events for Small Nonprofits (stop trying to copy the big shops) (August 15); and Excel Made Easy for the Very Beginner (August 22).
- Online plain text editors are darn useful. I like Edit Pad. You can copy or download the clean text. You can also get a word count, a character count, or open as a pop-up.
- Ugh. You have to use text that's in all caps. Why re-type when you can use Convert Case, the online tool that will change all caps to all lowercase, sentence case, and more.
- Need to create data visualizations? Need help starting or a refresher? Read Create High-Impact Data Visualizations: Nine Effective Strategies. Simplicity and focus stand out because without these, nothing else matters.
- Need data to explain something your organization is doing? Check out Overflow Data. The interactive data visualizations show data in a different way. One interesting example is What types of health insurance are used in each congressional district? Click on the dots to learn the representative and the percentage of people who are in that category.
