  • The Town of Irvington's Planning Commission will hold a public meeting Tuesday, September 5 at 6:30 pm at Irvington Baptist Church (53 King Carter Dr, Irvington) to consider and recommend the adoption of the proposed (PDF) Planned Unit Development (PUD) ordinance to the Town Council. Those impacted may appear to present their views on the proposal. From the website:
The proposed Planned Unit Development (PUD) Ordinance is intended to allow for denser development of land within the R-2 Residential District if requested and approved as a rezoning by the Town Planning Commission and Town Council. A PUD is restricted to those portions of Town currently zoned R-2 Residential and would increase the currently allowed density from one (1) single-family home per two (2) acres to five (5) single-family homes per one (1) acre or twenty (20) townhouses per one (1) acre. A PUD must be of twenty (20) acres in size with additions allowed of ten (10) acres or more. Land use in a PUD is restricted to residential use, recreational use, and open space with a requirement that 30% of the land be set aside for common open and/or recreational space. Prior to approval, a PUD applicant is required to submit a detailed plan of development for consideration by the Commission and Council. Development and consideration of a PUD Ordinance was set forth in the recently adopted Irvington Comprehensive Plan in Goal A, Strategy #2 as one means of furthering the future development of the Town as an urban village that includes areas of low and moderate density. Currently three (3) tracts of land qualify. Copies of the PUD are available for inspection at the Town Hall, located at 235 Steamboat Road, Irvington or on the Town’s website www.townofirvingtonva.com – Click the About button then click the Town Government then click the PUD button.
